Now I've got to watch out for Cougars

Having light-heartedly said in an earlier blog that I was sorry not to have seen any cougars while camping, one of the local fishermen I met in Bamfield, Vancouver Island was talking about cougars and said he would much rather meet a bear than a cougar.

He got me curious and so i had a look on the internet at cougar attacks, the results are somewhat worrying, as actually, quite a few people have been killed by them, the phrase that really struck me was:

"More than two-thirds of the Canadian fatalities occurred on Vancouver Island in British Columbia."

It's probably just as well that I was blissfully ignorant of the potential dangers whilst I was on the island.

human visitors

Hi Tiff - just looked at your blog to relieve feeling of being dragged down by council woes but was intrigued by being asked to prove that I am a human visitor by doing some addition - are any of us?  Perhaps we are all aliens and the cougars are just trying to make the point. The other question that I asked myself was - if I were an alien looking at your website would I not be able to do simple maths?  Then I realised it was all about spam which I understand by coincidence is a cougars favourite meal!

Anyway - I know you are of a much more practical frame of mind. Just wanted to say glad they didn't get you in Vancouver and I hope you are having a "nice day".

All the best Jo
