Gambo and Pats
Submitted by Tiffany on 14 September, 2010 - 13:10
I've just had a lovely couple of days with Pats in Gambo, a warm welcome and then meeting the locals and finding out about life in Newfoundland. I also used the opportunity to dry out my various wet items by spreading them through the house, furnace room and even the shed where I set up my tent. Thelma also got the opportunity to stand in the garage- she hasn't been under shelter since Montreal.
Pats presented me with a pair of woolly socks that she'd knitted herself (no more chilly feet) and a large bag of blueberries that she picked herself. It's been a bit like the Good Life, lots of home-baked goodies and a self sufficient lifestyle typical of this area. My contribution was providing the brute strength needed to get the bottle of home-made wine open!
Then it was back on the road once everything was dry, apparently the weather last week was warm enough for shorts and sandals - I fear it's a very different picure this week as I pile on the various layers including the cashmere jumper from Mongolia.
