Ethiopian Mud

Ethiopian Mud

Unfortunately for us, Ethiopia was at the the tail end of the wet season- many roads were fllooded and almost impassable. This is the main road towards the Sudan border - sheer hell on a heavy bike without knobbly tyres.

Great photos

Hi, found your site via horizons unlimited. LOve the photos and especially this one! The contrast of you riding hard into the mud and water, and the locals looking on like 'WTF???'.

I am in the early stages of planning a ride to Cape Town from Somerset and seeing your photos have been really inspiring. Thanks.

Africa Riding

Hi there

Glad you're enjoying the website, and you're managing to wade through so many of the pictures. There are still quite a lot of African photos to upload but as I have taken several thousand pictures since that first trip, it takes quite a while to up load them all. You're so right about the reaction of the locals, we're like aliens sometimes in our strange bike gear and riding motorbikes- that particular route in the photo is actually the main roa out of northern Ethiopia towards Sudan.

Hopefully there will be another Horizons Unlimited mini-meet in north Cornwall over the winter. There are always plenty of bike travellers to chat to then about your plans, and it's not too far for you.

best wishes with your journey and if you have any questions, do get in touch.
