Bollywood, Hollywood and now...

DOLLYWOOD!! I'm a big fan of Dolly Parton and so no journey through Tennessee was going to be complete without a visit to the legendary Dollywood. Unfortunately it was closed and so I had to content myself with a photo of me next to her picture. A nice couple from Pennsylvania took the photo and were briefly boasting about how far they had travelled to come to Doolywood, they went very quiet when I said I had ridden 28,000 miles to get here!

Another Dolly consolation was I got my legs waxed at a Beauty Parlour on Dolly Parton Boulevard.

The second instalment of the Blue Ridge Parkway...

After being rained out I was luckier the next day and managed to get onto the Parkway at Asheville once the weather had cleared. I had great sunshine and fantastic views. Though I must admit I wondered how long I was going to last as I started to feel a bit nauseous, those who know me are only to aware of how badly I suffer from motion sickness. Well, I have obviously been riding the straight roads of North America too much as within ten miles of getting on the Parkway I was feeling a bit sick. I rode on through to a cafe at the 20 mile mark where a cup of tea and some pasta made me feel a lot better. Another biker there advised me not to try Deal's Gap if I'm this nauseous already - it's a notoriously curved road that a lot of bikers ride.

I have noticed that quite a few American motorcyclists are not very good at riding steep curves, so I ensured I did the little bike salute at every biker I saw coming the other way, so that on the really sharp bends I could watch them deciding whether they were actually going to be able to wave back or not!
