I have to be quick as it's cocktail hour and I'm expected upstairs for drinks. I'm in San Francisco, staying with friends having had a great ride up here from LA. On the way I stopped at Bill Mayer Saddles (www.billmayersaddles.com/) in Ojai (the Totnes of America). Where I was duly measured up and put in the saddle as Adrian and the team hand crafted the perfect saddle for me. Wow is all I can say- what a huge difference. To be honest I had been a bit cynical but it turned out that I was wrong, the new saddle was soooooooo comfortable, I rode for nine hours solid after leaving Bill's workshop and although the rest of me was aching (bearing inmind I hadn't ridden Thelma for six months) my backside was fine. And I know I'm in good company as the saddle being made on the next workbench next was for Harrison Ford! And yes I can confirm, his bum is bigger than mine.
I'll fill in more details later, later the cocktails. And by the way, the title of this blog is taken from Bill's logo.
